Job Title: Environmental Compliance Officer

We are seeking an Environmental Compliance Officer to support our Environmental Compliance programs on assigned infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will provide technical and administrative assistance on environmental policies and programs, perform day-to-day project-specific tasks, and review mapping of environmentally sensitive areas.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Support Environmental Compliance programs on assigned infrastructure projects.
  2. Provide technical and administrative assistance on environmental policies and programs.
  3. Perform day-to-day project-specific tasks and duties as planned and identified for the assigned infrastructure project.
  4. Review mapping of environmentally sensitive areas and determine potential impact due to construction activities.
  5. Review and ensure adherence to the environmental compliance scope, schedule, and budget.
  6. Evaluate project effectiveness in environmental compliance by consulting with clients and project staff.
  7. Work in collaboration with stakeholders to develop, implement, and manage an environmental strategy.
  8. Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, and presentations to project and client teams.
  9. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify and mitigate/manage environmental risks.
  10. Consult with appropriate agencies regarding environmental issues and monitor regulations.
  11. Inspect construction project sites to ensure environmental compliance with regulatory standards and procedures.
  12. Monitor, log, and report on environmental requirements of the project.
  13. Ensure environmental services staff compliance with client and provincial policies and procedures.
  14. Record site conditions and produce KPIs based on environmental monitoring activities.
  15. Consult with the assigned Project Supervisor to seek guidance and input during key phases of a project.
Qualifications:

Education: Undergraduate Degree in a pertinent field.

Licenses or Certifications: Certified in a recognized certification or certificate of training in the area of specialty.

Experience: 8+ years of experience in consulting in the area of specialty, with experience working with Provincial (Ontario) and Federal environmental regulatory agencies and knowledge of Municipal, Provincial, and Federal regulatory requirements.

Skills and Competencies:

  1. Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  2. Expert in other consulting-related software applicable to the area of specialty.
  3. Highly organized and able to multitask.
  4. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  5. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  6. Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  7. In-depth understanding of prevailing consulting means and methods in the area of specialty.
  8. Ability to effectively lead a small team in the area of specialty.
