The successful candidate for this role will be part of our team responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental management standards during construction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct monitoring and inspections on all aspects of the works in accordance with the Environmental Management System (EMS).
  • Maintain a log of monitoring and inspection events, including photographic evidence to support observations recorded during such events.
  • Complete monitoring and inspection reports and provide them to the Environmental Compliance Officer as part of the monthly report.
  • Provide advice and recommendations for improving environmental protection and correcting inefficient practices or non-compliance within 24 hours of noticing an issue.
  • Additional tasks as defined by the Environmental Manager and/or Environmental Director.

Requirements:

  • A diploma or a bachelor's or advanced degree in an environmental-related discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • A minimum of five years of work experience in environmental monitoring and mitigation during roadway construction or transit infrastructure construction, specifically with respect to work in and around watercourses and erosion control measures.
  • Certification as a Canadian Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control (CAN-CISEC), or proven proficiency in observing, inspecting, and reporting on erosion control plans.
  • A valid G-class driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to work non-business hours for critical situations.
