Job Overview

Volker Stevin Highways is seeking a skilled Highway Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a critical member of our operations, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient maintenance of highways.

Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $80,000 per yearAbout the Role

This role requires a strong ability to operate heavy equipment used in highway maintenance work. You will be responsible for performing labor-intensive duties, maintaining and operating equipment, and adhering to contract specifications.

Key ResponsibilitiesWork Management

  • Apply company performance standards and Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) requirements for all highway maintenance activities.

Emergency Duties
  • Erect appropriate signage and traffic control devices.
  • Respond to emergency situations, such as weather-related events, wildlife, accidents, etc., as defined in Operations Excellence Training Modules (OETM), contract provisions, and relevant Alberta Transportation Specifications.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Valid Class 1 (preferred) or Class 3 driver's license with air endorsement.
  • Clean and valid driver's abstract.
  • Experience in snowplow operation – minimum 50 hours behind the wheel.
  • Aptitude for operation and minor maintenance of light, medium, and heavy equipment.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Standard First Aid Certificate (preferred).
