Job Title: Director, Maintenance Operations

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Director, Maintenance Operations to join our team at Challenger. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance operations of our four shop locations, ensuring that our fleet is available for dispatch 24/7, and driving revenue growth through owner-operator maintenance services.

Key Responsibilities:

* Oversee the day-to-day operations of our four maintenance facilities, ensuring that all maintenance activities are carried out in a safe and efficient manner.
* Direct priorities to the maintenance leadership team to ensure that our fleet is available for dispatch 24/7.
* Develop and implement strategies to increase revenue generation through owner-operator maintenance services.
* Ensure that all warranty opportunities are maximized from each OEM supplier.
* Provide leadership and guidance to the maintenance leadership team, ensuring that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
* Collaborate with the leadership team, equipment control, and business unit leaders to ensure that our maintenance department is meeting the needs of the business.

Requirements:

* Minimum 5-10 years' experience as a Maintenance Manager or Director in the transportation industry.
* Post-secondary degree and/or coursework in Business Administration/Commerce is preferred but not essential if the candidate has the appropriate training or experience.
* Experience in a maintenance/retail shop environment is an asset.
* Licensed Mechanic with 310T or 310J Red Seal Certification is an asset.
* AZ license and heavy equipment operator is an asset.
* Knowledge of the Ontario, BC, and Quebec trucking markets is an asset.
* Previous experience remotely managing employees/locations is an asset.
* Possession of a valid license and a suitable vehicle (travel required).
* Strong business knowledge of North American transportation and fleet maintenance.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, relationship building, and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of staff.
* Ability to lead and coach employees to utilize their strengths and further develop themselves personally and professionally.
* Strong attention to detail with a mechanical aptitude.
* Intermediate Microsoft Office, computer, and telephone skills.
* Creative and effective problem-solving ability.
* Strong financial and business acumen.
* Experience with financial statements and ability to understand financial for business decision making.
* Ability to read and understand operational reports and metrics to make effective decisions.
* Ability to work in a dynamic environment and turn multiple sources of data into effective information for making decisions to benefit the business.
* Ability to work independently and also in a team environment.
* Strong customer focus.
* Detail-oriented with the ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task in a busy environment.
* Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
* Proactive attitude and takes initiative to prevent issues.
