Sustainability Engineering Leadership Opportunity

The Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary invites applications for the position of Associate Dean, Sustainability Engineering. This key leadership role will focus on leading the school's Sustainability Engineering initiatives, including serving as Department Head-equivalent for the new BSc in Sustainable Systems Engineering program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the school's Sustainability Engineering initiatives, including the development and implementation of strategic plans and budgets.
  • Serve as Department Head-equivalent for the new BSc in Sustainable Systems Engineering program, overseeing curriculum development, faculty recruitment, and program evaluation.
  • Collaborate with the Administrative Manager (Sustainability Engineering) to manage the Sustainability Engineering budget and resources.
  • Recruit and mentor faculty members to support the growth of Sustainability Engineering initiatives.
  • Foster transdisciplinary relationships with industry, government, and the broader community to promote Sustainability Engineering.

Requirements:

  • PhD in Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Recognized track record of teaching and externally funded transdisciplinary research or contributions to transdisciplinary research teams in an Engineering or related field with a focus on sustainability.
  • Experience with educational leadership, pedagogical innovation, and/or sustainability policy.
  • Ability to mentor and support junior faculty members and students.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
