About the Job

We are seeking a skilled Horticulture Labourer to join our team at Van Luyk Greenhouses and Garden Centre. As a Horticulture Labourer, you will be responsible for maintaining the health and appearance of our greenhouse and garden centre.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greenhouse Maintenance: Clean and maintain greenhouses, including pruning, weeding, and fertilizing plants.
  • Soil Preparation: Mix and prepare soils for planting, including potting and repotting plants.
  • Plant Care: Water and tend to plants, lawns, and gardens, including applying fertilizers and pesticides.
  • Work Area Cleaning: Clean and maintain work areas, including disposing of waste and cleaning equipment.
  • Transportation: Transport plants, equipment, and supplies as needed.
Requirements
  • Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma required.
  • Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in horticulture or a related field.
  • Language: English.
  • Work Environment: Fast-paced environment, outdoors, confined spaces, wet/damp, odours, hot, non-smoking.
  • Physical Capabilities: Physically demanding, standing for extended periods, bending, crouching, kneeling, attention to detail, hand-eye coordination.
  • Weight Handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
  • Personal Suitability: Client focus, efficient interpersonal skills, reliability, team player.
