About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Indigenous Engagement Librarian to join our team. As a key member of the library faculty, you will provide subject liaison support for Indigenous Studies, including information literacy instruction, collection development, and student and faculty research support.

Your expertise in Indigenous librarianship, research methodologies, ways of knowing, and pedagogical approaches will enable you to develop strong professional relationships with Indigenous students, faculty, and communities. You will also contribute to advancing the goals outlined in Mount Royal's Indigenous Strategic Plan, Academic Plan, and University Strategic Plan.

As a tenure-track position, this role offers opportunities for scholarly teaching, service, and research. You will have the option to choose from two work patterns: Teaching/Scholarship/Service or Teaching/Service. This position is available to First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples only.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide subject liaison support for Indigenous Studies, including information literacy instruction, collection development, and student and faculty research support.
  2. Work collaboratively with colleagues in the library to provide support for research and information literacy needs within Indigenization and decolonization contexts across campus disciplines.
  3. Develop strong professional relationships with Indigenous students, faculty, and communities.
  4. Contribute to advancing the goals outlined in Mount Royal's Indigenous Strategic Plan, Academic Plan, and University Strategic Plan.
Qualifications and Competencies
  • Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent degree.
  • Knowledge of information literacy theory and pedagogy, and ability to teach information literacy concepts.
  • Experience working in an academic library, teaching information literacy, and/or developing library collections.
  • Academic experience or qualifications in Indigenous Studies.
