Project Coordinator - Construction

Novacom Building Partners is a General Contractor based in Surrey, BC, that values people, relationships, innovation, and culture. We strive to constantly improve ourselves to provide the best possible service to our clients. Our core business is commercial construction of financial institutions, restaurants, offices, and retail spaces. We're doing construction differently, and we're thinking outside the box about how we can improve our company and our industry.

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Project Manager (APM) to join our growing team, who will be responsible for assisting in the management of a variety of projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical knowledge and a passion for digging into constructability, design, and problem-solving. This role will primarily assist a Senior PM on large-scale Tenant Improvement projects with high-end design and detail.

This role will be based out of our Surrey, BC office, but we offer remote and flexible working arrangements. The role will also require travel to projects in Vancouver. We're looking for someone who is energetic, engaged, and willing to take on complex challenges with enthusiasm. The successful candidate will have a strong ability to communicate effectively with the team and take instruction from the Project Manager, but also act authoritatively on their own.

The responsibilities of this role include:

  • Assisting in submittal review, constructability review in documentation and on-site
  • Providing support to the Senior PM and managing aspects of the trade partners and project as needed
  • Involved in monthly reconciliations of projects, detailed analysis of all invoicing, site progress, and financial profitability and tracking against the original budget
  • Issuing contracts to all trade partners
  • Start-up documentation, requesting insurance and bonds, WCB notices, etc.
  • Using Timberline and Microsoft software to manage labour, materials, and equipment, cost coding, submittals, schedules, meeting minutes, change orders, etc.
  • Managing trade partners and suppliers, and mitigating issues that may arise in the course of a project
  • Attending meetings with the Senior PM, architects, consultants, and clients to manage project issues and maintain positive working relationships

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Required post-secondary, technical education (BCIT) or similar in a construction or industry-related program - Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent
  • Engineering or Architecture background would be an asset
  • Industry experience - 5+ years

We offer a competitive salary, remote and flexible working arrangements, a strong benefit plan, and opportunities for growth within the company. If you're looking for a company with a family dynamic where you can have opportunities to grow, be challenged, and known by your coworkers, then come join us.
