Mechanical Engineer for Facility Systems Maintenance

BWXT Medical Ltd. is a trusted partner in the development and manufacture of nuclear medicine products for biotechnology, life sciences, and pharmaceutical companies.

We are currently hiring a Facilities Mechanical Engineer to join our team at our production facility in Kanata, Ontario.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing maintenance engineering activities supporting facility infrastructure systems, including planning, designing, and implementing maintenance programs to optimize availability and productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning and coordinating maintenance engineering work, including review of mechanical and electrical engineering specifications.
  • Performing engineering reviews of proposed new equipment designs to assess reliability, ease of maintenance, and availability of replacement parts.
  • Liaising with production staff to coordinate repair work, statutory safety inspections, and supply of new plant and equipment with production schedules.
  • Participating in the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Developing maintenance activities related to facility systems, reviewing completed maintenance activities, and performing troubleshooting to support staff completing maintenance.

Requirements:

  • University Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an appropriate discipline, plus 5 years relevant experience.
  • Capacity to understand, interpret, and explain complex technical systems or phenomena.
  • Detailed knowledge and experience in one or more pertinent disciplines, or sub-disciplines, and a general appreciation for, and understanding of other specialties and disciplines.
  • Must be capable of working co-operatively with others, or as part of a project team.
  • Must have experience working with HVAC, Compressed Air, Water for Injection, Clean Steam Generators, and Clean in Place and Sterilize in Place technologies.

Benefits:

  • A competitive base salary range of $78,000 - $112,000 per year, based on local job market factors and job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
