Job Title: Supervisor, Building Standards
Job Summary:
Halifax Regional Municipality is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervisor, Building Standards to join our team. As a key member of our Planning and Development department, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with the Building Code and other relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise the review and approval of building plans and permits
- Provide technical guidance and support to staff and stakeholders
- Develop and implement policies and procedures related to building standards
- Collaborate with other departments and agencies to ensure compliance with regulations
- Provide leadership and guidance to staff to ensure high-quality service delivery
Requirements:
- Level 2 Diploma of Qualification as issued by the Nova Scotia Building Code Training and Certification Board
- Minimum 5 years' experience in the construction and/or development industry
- Minimum 2 years' experience enforcing the Building Code as a Level 2 Building Official
- Strong knowledge of the Building Code and related regulations
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
Working Conditions:
This is a permanent, full-time position working Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with 35 hours per week. Flex options to work outside of these hours and hybrid may be available.
Salary: Non-Union level 7 $82,080 - $106,220
Work Location: 5251 Duke St, 3rd Floor, Halifax, NS - Duke Tower
