Job Title: Supervisor, Building Standards

Job Summary:

Halifax Regional Municipality is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervisor, Building Standards to join our team. As a key member of our Planning and Development department, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with the Building Code and other relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the review and approval of building plans and permits
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations
  • Provide technical guidance and support to staff and stakeholders
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures related to building standards
  • Collaborate with other departments and agencies to ensure effective communication and coordination
  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff to ensure high-quality service delivery

Requirements:

  • Level 2 Diploma of Qualification as issued by the Nova Scotia Building Code Training and Certification Board
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a related field, including supervisory experience
  • Strong knowledge of building codes and regulations, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on customer service

Working Conditions:

This is a permanent, full-time position with a salary range of $82,080 - $106,220. The successful candidate will be required to work Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with flexibility to work outside of these hours as needed.
