Mental Health and Substance Use Coordinator

We are seeking a Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team in a specialized mental health and substance use setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to the care and well-being of others and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and assigning requests for consultation, prioritizing consultations based on urgency and assessment of patients. You will also provide consistent liaison with physician, nursing unit staff, and other healthcare professionals, building capacity through supporting care planning and providing education to healthcare professionals, networking with appropriate community programs, and supporting coordinated transition to community.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate and assign requests for consultation
Prioritize consultations based on urgency and assessment of patients
Provide consistent liaison with physician, nursing unit staff, and other healthcare professionals
Build capacity through supporting care planning and providing education to healthcare professionals
Network with appropriate community programs and support coordinated transition to community
Requirements:
Registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN or RPN
Three years of recent related clinical experience in an acute care mental health and substance use setting
Additional training/education in opioid agonist therapies, addiction and psychiatric pharmacotherapy processes, substance use and chronic pain, Trauma Informed Practice, Harm Reduction approaches, Stages of Change, other relevant best practices therapies as appropriate, statistical analysis, quality improvement methodologies and patient safety
Two years of recent teaching experience
Current valid driver's license

Qualifications:
Registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN or RPN

Critical Thinking – Demonstrated ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data (from multiple sources) to problem-solve effectively
Teaching – Ability to transmit information intended to instruct clients and others about topics essential to health care and well-being
Assessment and Intervention – Demonstrated ability to complete initial and ongoing client assessments (clinical and diagnostic reasoning) and provide nursing care through appropriate/ prescribed technical, therapeutic, safety type interventions
Ability to operate related equipment including proven ability to utilize computer technology
Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
