Job Summary

The Executive Director, Nurse Practitioners, provides senior leadership and direction to the Nurse Practitioner (NP) portfolio at Northern Health Authority. This role integrates both practice and operational responsibilities, including professional practice standards, evolving clinical practice and education models, quality care, and Health Sector workforce strategy.

Key Responsibilities

- Provides senior leadership expertise in NP scope of practice and encourages Nurse Practitioners to engage in clinical care, education, leadership, and research.
- Collaborates with other executives and senior leaders on strategic planning, quality, and clinical transformation that affect major segments of the organization.
- Liaises with external healthcare and government organizations, including the Ministry of Health, BC Regulatory Colleges, and Accreditation Canada.

Qualifications

- Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner, plus ten years of related clinical leadership experience.
- Experience in leading professional practice, program management, change management, or strategic initiative development and implementation in a large health organization.
- Current registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives as a Nurse Practitioner.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Possesses understanding of provincial legislation, health statutes, and regulations pertaining to patient care, safety, and quality.
- Demonstrated understanding of role in advancing Northern Health's commitment to Indigenous Cultural Safety and Truth and Reconciliation initiatives.
- Knowledge of current and future healthcare issues that impact the designated portfolio.
- Demonstrated knowledge of structures and leadership roles to support patient-centred frameworks.
