Job Summary


The Executive Director, Nurse Practitioners, provides senior leadership and direction to the Nurse Practitioner portfolio at Northern Health. This role integrates practice and operational responsibilities, including professional standards, clinical practice models, quality care, and Health Sector workforce strategy. The Executive Director leads Nurse Practitioner strategic planning, oversight of NP leadership and operational structures, and encourages Nurse Practitioners to engage in clinical care, education, leadership, and research. The incumbent collaborates with executives and senior leaders on strategic planning, quality, and clinical transformation, ensuring a commitment to quality clinical care across the care continuum.


Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement strategic plans for the Nurse Practitioner portfolio, aligning with Northern Health's goals and objectives.

  2. Provide leadership and oversight to NP leadership and operational structures, ensuring effective integration of practice and operational responsibilities.

  3. Collaborate with executives and senior leaders to drive strategic priorities and ensure a commitment to quality clinical care.

  4. Develop and maintain relationships with external healthcare and government organizations, ensuring alignment with Northern Health's goals and objectives.


Requirements


  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner, plus ten years of recent related progressively senior clinical leadership experience.

  • Experience in leading professional practice, program management, change management, or strategic initiative development, implementation, and system planning in a large health organization.

  • Current registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives as a Nurse Practitioner.

  • Maintains clinical Nurse Practitioner practice in their area of expertise/interest and must be eligible and maintain active membership as NH medical staff.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Possesses understanding of provincial legislation, health statutes, and regulations pertaining to patient care, safety, and quality.

  • Demonstrated understanding of role in advancing Northern Health's commitment to Indigenous Cultural Safety and initiatives for Truth and Reconciliation.

  • Knowledge of current and future health care issues that impact the designated portfolio.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of structures and leadership roles to support patient-centred frameworks.
