**About This Role**

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Project Manager to join our team at Black & McDonald Limited in Vancouver. As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and evaluating assigned projects from start to finish.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. They will also possess excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with stakeholders, including clients, consultants, joint venture partners, trades, subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership for assigned projects in regards to cost, schedule, quality, safety, and contract performance
  • Prepare and submit project estimates and negotiate all changes in scope as required
  • Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards as per company policy and contract specifications
  • Establish and maintain excellent relationships with all stakeholders
  • Plan, prepare, monitor, and manage construction schedules and milestones
  • Ensure work is performed in compliance with applicable standards, including HSE regulations, company policies, and contract requirements
  • Monitor and report on progress, labour productivity, work outcomes, budget, cost, and forecast
  • Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements
  • Review work/contracts/WIP for areas of risk and correct deficiencies
  • Ensure material and equipment are available to tradespersons
  • Ensure monthly cost forecasting and checklists are completed accurately and on time
  • Ensure accurate productivity reports are completed weekly

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager in the construction industry with a contractor
  • 10+ years working in the utilities and/or civil industry
  • Proven experience in estimation, strategic procurement, and negotiation
  • Experience commissioning, integrating, and applying QA/QC to projects
  • Experience with medium and high voltage utility work, roadway lighting, traffic signals, and substations is considered an asset
  • Experience with P3 and/or design-build projects is considered an asset
  • Experience in WWTP projects is considered an asset

Education Requirements:

  • Degree or Diploma in one of the following is considered an asset: Red Seal Journeyman, Electrical Technologist Degree, Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering
  • The following certifications/designations are considered an asset: P.Eng. Designation, PMP Designation, Gold Seal Certification, Construction Safety Certifications
  • Experience as a tradesperson in the electrical trade may substitute for education requirements

Skills, Abilities, and Other Requirements:

  • Proficient knowledge and understanding of contract management, construction scheduling, planning, and execution, blue print reading, project structural design interpretation, financial statements, established utilities practices, and applicable local and provincial labour codes
  • Proficient user of MS Office (Word, Excel), Microsoft Project, JD Edwards or an Oracle-based ERP system, Bid2Win
  • Willing and able to travel in British Columbia
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License with a clean record required

Salary: The expected salary range for this role is between $90,000 and $125,000. The starting salary will be based on several factors, including but not limited to education and experience. Salary is one component of Black & McDonald's total rewards package. Total rewards vary by position and may include additional offerings such as vehicle allowance, group insurance benefits, pension plan, annual performance bonus, career development programs, and other HR programs.
