Job Description

We seek an experienced Construction Project Leader to join our Vancouver team. As a key member, you will oversee commercial interior construction projects, ensuring corporate objectives for safety, quality, budget, schedule, and profitability are met.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing projects to meet corporate goals for safety, quality, budget, schedule, and profitability.
  • Maintaining regular communication with project teams, site managers, clients, designers, trades, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure effective coordination.
  • Monitoring legal, contractual, and financial aspects of construction projects and developing strategies to mitigate risks.
  • Performing project estimating, including subcontractor solicitation, buyout, and contracting.
  • Overseeing construction tenders and negotiations.
  • Creating, monitoring, and reporting on project schedules and costs, margins, and profitability.
  • Building and leading a strong project team that delivers profitable projects, providing direction, coaching, and support.
  • Developing long-lasting client relationships by managing client expectations and identifying opportunities for repeat business.
  • Utilizing PM software to set up projects, enter budget estimates, and maintain timesheets.
  • Managing project documentation, permits, site notifications, pricing approvals, POs, final city inspections, and building occupancy permits.
  • Managing project accounting, billings, and receivables, including project signoffs, subcontractor payment certificates, service/work order billings, and client invoices.
  • Leading and minute project meetings.
  • Tracking project execution lessons learned and sharing them with the team for continuous improvement.
  • Participating in business development activities, driving growth by establishing and maintaining solid relationships with clients, designers, and architects.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in construction management, architecture, engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of project management experience in commercial interior construction, with experience working on government projects and handling lump sum and construction management contracts.
  • A proven leader with strong negotiation and dispute resolution skills, ability to communicate tactfully, and tech-savviness in Microsoft Office and project management software.
  • Detailed knowledge of construction methodology, process, and sequence, along with a strong understanding of construction costs and the local/national market.

Compensation

$110,000 - $130,000 annually.

Working Conditions and Environment

  • Primary work location: 900 West Hastings Street, Vancouver, with potential for work-related travel.
  • Exposure to construction site environments in all seasons.
  • On-site and in-office work, with no hybrid or remote work arrangement.
