Job Overview



As a Packaging Operations Supervisor at Polytainers, you will play a vital role in leading our manufacturing team to achieve exceptional results. Reporting directly to the Manager, Molding, your primary responsibility will be to oversee all shop-floor functions and activities for packers, ensuring we meet our safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets.

Your Key Responsibilities




  • Team Leadership: You will supervise Team Members, resolving personnel issues and leading Performance Improvement Processes while maintaining good employee relations on the shop floor through clear communication and feedback.
  • Scheduling and Workload Management: You will schedule, direct, and monitor the work of assigned Team Members to support exceeding daily standard production rates. This includes evaluating operations and adjusting work schedules as needed to maintain production needs.
  • Performance Improvement Program: You will manage the Performance Improvement program, dealing with issues and providing timely feedback. You will maintain proper notes of issues and interactions and work with HR to support good documentation and resolution of issues. You will also coach and counsel Team Members as appropriate.
  • Safety and Efficiency: You will ensure all Team Members are trained and performing in a safe and efficient manner, using the appropriate PPE when applicable. You will provide training when necessary.
  • Accident/Incident Investigations: You will lead accident/incident investigations and submit reports in a timely manner.
  • Training Program: You will manage the Training Program for new team members and support the maintenance of the training matrix.
  • Vacation Planning and Absence Management: You will manage vacation planning to satisfy production needs and manage and report absences, overtime, personnel moves, and other exceptions.
  • Continuous Improvement: You will drive continuous improvements projects, either leading or participating in projects, while working in partnership with peers to implement process change and physical upgrades. You will create and update SOPs and related documents.
  • Communication and Data Collection: You will ensure full communication of all information to shift supervisors to ensure smooth running of Molding production by conducting daily audits, formal communication meetings, and collecting data to submit daily production reports.
  • OHS and HACCP Compliance: You will always comply with plant safety and HACCP regulations, using appropriate PPE while performing various duties.
  • Food Safety and cGMP: You must follow food safety and cGMP processes and procedures.


About You



To succeed in this role, you should have strong supervisory skills, with experience in a mid-size to large manufacturing environment with fast-paced made-to-order processes. Your background in leadership of a fast-paced, high-volume Lean Manufacturing environment is essential. Knowledge of injection molding manufacturing, time studies, systematic troubleshooting, workload balancing, and efficient plant layout/workspace planning are highly valued. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and fluency in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. A skilled influencer with strong ability to positively impact desired behaviors is also important. Ability to effectively coach, positively influence, and support Team Members, as well as general understanding of ergonomic concepts, are additional key attributes.
