Belvika is currently seeking a skilled Packaging Line Specialist for its Thornmount facility in Scarborough.
The ideal candidate must be flexible to work all shifts.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Setting up and troubleshooting packaging machines and lines;
- Ensuring quality and conformity of filled or packaged products to standards through machine operation observation;
- Adjusting machine components, tension and pressure according to product size or processing angle;
- Regulating machine flow or speed;
- Stopping or resetting machines when malfunctions occur, clearing jams, and reporting issues to a Supervisor;
- Inspecting and removing defective products and packaging material;
- Cleaning, oiling, and making minor adjustments or repairs to machinery and equipment;
- Monitoring production line performance, identifying potential problems such as pile-ups, jams, or glue issues;
- Performing preventative maintenance on packaging lines as required;
- Repairing areas in the facility that require attention according to work orders;
- Training Packaging Equipment Operators;
- Assisting with production on lines as needed;
- Sourcing and ordering parts through online maintenance programs;
- Other duties as assigned.
Required skills and qualifications:
- 1-2 years' experience as a Maintenance Technician or Mechanic specializing in secondary packaging (i.e. shrink wrapping, overwrapping and cartooning);
- Engineering/Technical Education background;
- Forklift or Scissor Lift certification an asset;
- Experience with high-speed packaging equipment (example: Bartelt and food scales (Ishida));
- Licensed Millwright not required but an advantage.
Key technical and behavioural competencies:
- Mechanical aptitude;
- Technical mindset;
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems;
- Attention to detail;
- Good communication skills;
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of Products.
Based on industry standards and location, the estimated salary range for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 per year.
