ROLE SUMMARY:

The Packaging Operations Supervisor is a leadership role that oversees the packing team to ensure efficient and safe production, maintaining quality standards while meeting delivery targets. Key responsibilities include team management, performance improvement, training, accident investigation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Team Supervision: Resolve personnel issues, lead performance improvement processes, and foster a positive work environment through effective communication and feedback.
  • Scheduling and Work Management: Direct and monitor packer team members' work to meet daily production targets, adjusting schedules as needed to maintain efficiency.
  • Performance Improvement Program: Manage the program, dealing with issues, providing timely feedback, documenting interactions, and collaborating with HR for resolution support.
  • Training and Safety: Ensure team members are trained in safety procedures, use personal protective equipment (PPE) when required, and provide training when necessary.
  • Accident Investigations: Lead investigations, report findings, and implement corrective actions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities, drive projects, and collaborate with peers to implement process changes and upgrades.
  • Communication: Maintain open communication with shift supervisors, ensuring smooth production by conducting audits, meetings, and data collection for daily reports.
  • Compliance and Quality: Adhere to plant safety and HACCP protocols, following food safety and cGMP processes.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Post-secondary degree or diploma in Engineering, Business, or equivalent.
  • Experience: Demonstrated supervisory skills; experience in midsize to large manufacturing environments with fast-paced made-to-order processes, Lean Manufacturing, time studies, systematic troubleshooting, workload balancing, and efficient plant layout/workspace planning.
  • Computer Skills: Good PC skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Physical Requirements: Both office and plant exposure, with considerable time spent on the shop floor in a noisy environment.
  • Communication: Skilled influencer with strong ability to positively impact behaviors; fluent in English with good verbal and written communication skills.
