Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cross-Platform Reporter to join our team at CBC/Radio-Canada. As a key member of our news team, you will be responsible for developing and producing engaging news content for various platforms, including television, radio, and online.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research and develop story ideas, conducting interviews and gathering information to create compelling news content.
  • Write, edit, and produce news reports, scripts, and other content for various platforms.
  • Collaborate with assignment team to plan and execute news coverage, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of content.
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of current events, with a focus on the Atlantic region.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with sources, including government officials, community leaders, and other key stakeholders.
  • Utilize digital tools and software to integrate multimedia elements, such as text, graphics, audio, and video, into news content.
  • Produce high-quality visual content, including photos, illustrations, and other graphics, tailored to the CBC/Radio-Canada brand.
  • Process and handle various file sources, ensuring accurate and efficient delivery of content.
  • Script, edit, and narrate reports, as well as draft copy for different platforms.
  • Deliver on-air reports, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of content.
  • Inform newsroom management of any events warranting a news flash or special coverage.
  • Ensure the availability of resources required to produce reports.
  • Drive a news vehicle as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in journalism or a related field.
  • Three (3) years of experience in journalism or a related field.
  • Extensive general knowledge, with a strong understanding of current events in the Atlantic region.
  • Solid command of the work language: French.
  • Intermediate proficiency in English.
  • Solid command of communication techniques specific to the medium, as well as interview techniques.
  • Ability to port live content to different platforms.
  • In-depth knowledge of content management tools, such as WordPress, Scoop, and iNews.
  • Good knowledge of audio/video management systems, like Avid NewsCutter, Dalet Plus, and Media Central.
  • Familiarity with CBC/Radio-Canada Journalistic Standards and Practices.
  • Valid driver's license.
