Medavie Blue Cross is seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Analyst to join our Finance team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for analyzing and preparing financial information to support reporting requirements and material presented to senior management and the Board of Directors.
Key Responsibilities:- Participate in the Company's financial reporting activities by preparing, analyzing, and providing insights related to month-end financial performance, variance analysis, and/or projections of the Company's operations.
- Continuously look for opportunities to streamline and enhance financial data for analysis and reporting using advanced Excel and other tools.
- Be involved in various initiatives related to process improvement, establishing or enhancing existing policies, process documentation, or evaluating controls in place, and ensuring they are operating effectively.
- Participate in the preparation of presentations and reports for senior management, the Board of Directors, and its Committees.
- Review and/or implement accounting standards appropriately, including journal entries, updating annual financial statement note disclosures, documenting our positions, and being involved in regular year-end analysis, reconciliation, and financial statement preparation.
- Prepare information relating to various aspects of subsidiaries' financial reporting, other legislative requirements, as well as compiling information to be presented to regulators or other third parties.
- Post-secondary education in business with a concentration in accounting. CPA designation would be considered an asset.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience.
- Strong Excel skills, knowledge of query tools (such as Power Query, Power BI, Alteryx) would be considered an asset, as well as skills relating to preparing dashboards, charts, or other visual ways to communicate financial information.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team as well as independently.
- Self-directed with high levels of personal accountability and responsibility.
- Interested in deepening knowledge of highly technical and specialized concepts.
- Strong analytical skills with a high attention to detail.
- Advanced problem-solving and analysis skills.
