Job Summary

The Transportation Design Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing transportation infrastructure projects for Associated Engineering. This role requires a strong background in transportation engineering and experience with traffic engineering software.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop transportation infrastructure projects, including roads, highways, and public transportation systems
  • Develop and implement traffic engineering plans and strategies to improve traffic flow and safety
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project deliverables meet client requirements
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure project quality and safety
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders to ensure project success

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering
  • Five years' experience in transportation engineering
  • Registration with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.)
  • Working knowledge and experience with traffic engineering software, including Highway Capacity Software, Synchro, SimTraffic, Vissim, EMME, and Visum
  • Working knowledge and experience with drafting and design software, including AutoCAD, Civil3D, and AutoTURN
  • Applied skills in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data management systems, including Microsoft Access or SQL
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Skilled at analyzing and solving problems with and without supervision

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cost estimating, contract document preparation, contract administration, and construction inspection
  • Experience on projects specifically with the Ministry of Transportation Ontario
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
