We are seeking an experienced Indian Cuisine Chef to join our team at THE GURU FINE INDIAN CUISINE (2289833 Ontario Inc.).

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking complete meals or individual dishes and foods, as well as preparing dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances. They will also be responsible for inspecting kitchens and food service areas, training staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food, ordering supplies and equipment, supervising kitchen staff and helpers, maintaining inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment, and cleaning kitchen and work areas.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and Cook Complete Meals: Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods for customers.
  • Food Allergies and Intolerances: Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances.
  • Kitchen Inspection: Inspect kitchens and food service areas to ensure cleanliness and organization.
  • Staff Training: Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food.
  • Supply Management: Order supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Supervision: Supervise kitchen staff and helpers.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment.
  • Cleaning: Clean kitchen and work areas.
Requirements:
  • Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a kitchen environment.
  • Education: No degree, certificate or diploma required.
  • Work Setting: Restaurant kitchen environment.
  • Physical Capabilities: Ability to stand for extended periods, handle heavy loads, and work in a fast-paced environment.
