Job Summary

The Rehabilitation Assistant will work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to provide high-quality care to patients, focusing on restoring, maintaining, and improving functional independence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the development and implementation of individualized care plans to meet the unique needs of patients.
  • Assist patients with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming, while promoting independence and autonomy.
  • Collaborate with occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and speech-language pathologists to provide comprehensive care and support.
  • Conduct regular assessments to monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient care and progress.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to enhance skills and knowledge in rehabilitation techniques and best practices.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent, plus a rehabilitation techniques program or course of over one year and up to two years.
  • Experience working with adult patients is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the target population of Extra-Mural Services.
  • Valid New Brunswick Class 5 Driver's License and good driving record.
  • Current CPR Level C certification.
  • Ability to work efficiently as a member of the team, with leadership and coaching skills, strong interpersonal skills, and good judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work all shifts as assigned, with a good attendance record.
  • High regard for confidentiality.
  • Excellent work habits and professional appearance.
  • Good computer knowledge and skills, including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
