Job Summary:

The Lead FX plays a pivotal role within the show, responsible for overseeing the artists assigned to sequences and collaborating with the Effects Supervisor to achieve creative goals. Effective communication and collaboration with the pipeline team to address and resolve pipeline issues are integral aspects of this role.

Responsibilities:


• Develop and implement department standards, workflow, and techniques.

• Mentor artists in advancing their work towards asset/shot approval.

• Provide guidance and support to team members in an advisory role, showcasing processes and troubleshooting techniques.

• Ensure artists address notes, respect briefs, and meet deadlines.

• Collaborate with the supervisor to design and improve the workflow.

• Work closely with the Pipeline team to resolve any issues.

• Communicate with the supervisor about any issues or potential problems.

• Apply direct and procedural animation techniques to create a variety of effects, simulating natural phenomena.

• Maintain quality control with the team.

• Create and compose 3D effects elements.

• Develop animation timing for effects and work with the production team to create the desired look.

Qualifications:


• Degree/diploma in fine arts or animation or equivalent experience.

• A minimum of 4 years production experience in film or television effects.

• Thorough knowledge of 3D effects and simulation techniques.

• Working knowledge of Houdini.

• Compositing experience is a plus.

• Experience programming Vex is a plus.

• Ability to communicate creative and technical thoughts and ideas.

• Ability to follow directions well.

• Ability to multi-task and prioritize.

• Ability to thrive in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented environment.
