As a key member of the leadership team, they contribute significantly to defining the quality and style of the show, working closely with the Effects Supervisor to achieve creative goals. Effective communication and collaboration with the pipeline team to address and resolve pipeline issues are integral aspects of this role.

Responsibilities:


• Train new hires in department standards, workflow, and techniques.

• Guide and mentor artists in advancing their work towards asset/shot approval.

• Work well with team members in an advisory role and can show them processes and troubleshooting.

• Follow the artist's work to ensure they address notes, respect briefs, and meet deadlines.

• Assist the supervisor in designing and improving the workflow.

• Collaborate with the Pipeline team to resolve any issues.

• Communicate with the supervisor about any issues or potential problems.

• Simulate natural phenomena by applying direct and procedural animation techniques to create various effects.

• Maintain quality control with the team.

• Create and compose 3D effects elements.

• Develop and communicate animation timing for effects.

• Work with the production team to create the desired look for the effect.

Qualifications:


• Degree/diploma in fine arts or animation or equivalent experience.

• A minimum of 4 years production experience in film or television effects.

• Thorough knowledge of 3D effects and simulation techniques.

• Working knowledge of Houdini.

• Compositing experience is a plus.

• Experience programming Vex is a plus.

• Ability to communicate creative and technical thoughts and ideas.

• Ability to follow directions well.

• Ability to multi-task and prioritize.

• Ability to thrive in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented environment.

• Enjoy working in teams.
