Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Counter Salesperson to join our team at EMCO Corporation. As a Counter Salesperson, you will play a key role in providing exceptional customer service and sales support to walk-in customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide sales support to customers by answering questions, picking, and entering orders
  • Assist customers with purchasing material at the Profit Centre counters
  • Research products and provide recommendations to customers
  • Drive sales growth through counter merchandising, product promotion, and lead generation
  • Enter, pick, and pack sales orders generated at the counter
  • Maintain and clean the counter area, including merchandising displays
  • Inform the buyer when stock levels are low
  • Follow up on backorders with vendors and provide customers with accurate delivery dates
  • Process returns and warranty claims, including paperwork in compliance with procedures
  • Navigate and resolve customer concerns and complaints

Requirements

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent; college and/or university degree an asset
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in customer service or counter sales
  • Outstanding customer service and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent relationship building skills with customers, vendors, and teammates
  • Ability to learn and operate software systems used to process orders
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • Intermediate math skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to learn material handling equipment operation
  • Strong work ethic and high standard of integrity
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting

Preferred Skills

  • Previous experience with or knowledge of plumbing and building products sold at the Profit Centre
  • Ability to use the Internet as a resource to problem solve and find alternative solutions
  • Experience using Trend, Eclipse, Word, Excel, and Outlook
