Counter Sales Associate

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Counter Salesperson to join our team at EMCO Corporation. As a Counter Salesperson, you will provide sales support to walk-in customers, maintain a clean and organized counter sales area, and assist customers with product inquiries and orders.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service and support to walk-in customers
- Maintain a clean and organized counter sales area, including merchandising displays
- Assist customers with product inquiries and orders, including picking and entering orders
- Support the Inside Sales and Outside Sales functions as needed
- Drive sales growth through ownership of counter merchandising and product promotion
- Enter, pick, and pack sales orders generated at the counter
- Maintain and clean the counter area, including merchandising displays
- Inform the buyer when stock levels are low
- Follow up on backorders with vendors and provide customers with accurate delivery dates
- Process returns and warranty claims to customers, including paperwork in compliance with procedures
- Navigate and find solutions for customer concerns and complaints
Qualifications
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent; college and/or university degree an asset
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in customer service or counter sales
- Outstanding customer service and verbal communication skills
- Excellent relationship building skills with customers, vendors, and teammates
- Ability to learn and operate the applicable software system used to process orders
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment
- Intermediate math skills with a strong attention to detail
- Ability to learn how to operate material handling equipment
- Strong work ethic and high standard of integrity
- Ability to work well independently and in a team setting
Preferred Skills
- Previous experience with or knowledge of plumbing and building products sold at the Profit Centre
- Ability to use the Internet as a resource to problem solve and find alternative solutions for customers
- Experience using Trend, Eclipse, Word, Excel, and Outlook
