Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Dietetic and Nutrition Specialist II to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our nutrition services team, you will be responsible for providing complex nutrition services to patients, including assessing nutritional status, developing and implementing individualized nutrition care plans, and providing education and training to staff and patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess nutritional status of patients using laboratory and anthropometric data
  • Develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans based on patient needs and expectations
  • Provide education and training to staff and patients on nutrition principles and therapeutic diets
  • Consult with the food service department to ensure accurate and timely information on menu changes and special diets
  • Conduct quality assessment meal observations and participate in performance improvement audits
  • Assist in developing departmental policies and procedures
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Nutrition or related field
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) certification
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in nutrition services, preferably in a healthcare setting
  • Strong knowledge of food and nutrition, food systems management, and food science
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
