Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Dietetic & Nutrition Spec II to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our nutrition services team, you will be responsible for providing complex nutrition services, including training staff and family members, assessing patient nutritional status, and developing special therapeutic menus.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide training to staff and family members on nutrition principles and therapeutic diets
  • Assess patient nutritional status using laboratory and anthropometric data
  • Develop and implement special therapeutic menus modified for one or more nutrients and textures
  • Participate in the patient's recovery team and project teams
  • Prepare reports and provide quality assessment monitoring of menu and nutrition services activities
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to others as needed
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of food and nutrition, food systems management, and food science
  • Knowledge of federal program evaluation requirements
  • Skills in professional oral and written communication, medical nutritional therapy, and interviewing
  • Ability to counsel and train others in food and nutrition, evaluate and communicate nutrition needs, and interact effectively with patients, families, and staff
Working Conditions:

This position requires working under general supervision of the Director of Nutrition Services, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
