Here are some key responsibilities of a Senior Estimator in our Montreal office:

  • We conduct detailed analysis of contract documents, including isometric drawings, specifications, and engineering requirements, to determine overall project requirements such as bonding and insurance.
  • We establish critical path schedules with milestone dates and completion timelines to meet contract completion dates for large projects.
  • We lead pricing efforts for medium to large projects, including lump sum and construction management.
  • We document all information related to estimates and archive this data to transfer it to the project team upon successful award.
  • We conduct risk and opportunity analyses to add value to our estimates.
  • We liaise with external consultants and project management organizations to estimate project budget requirements and coordinate tender development processes.
  • We monitor client project-specific success criteria and hold the team accountable for meeting these objectives.
Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent trade experience is required.
  • Knowledge of different construction methods, planning, scheduling, sequencing, potential problems, and timelines is essential.
  • Extensive knowledge of bid preparation procedures, including quantity take-off procedures, trade contractor procurement, pricing, and bid closing procedures, is necessary.
  • Expertise in understanding contract terms for various delivery models and identifying contract risks and opportunities is crucial.
  • Familiarity with different bid processes and contract delivery types, such as hard bid/lump sum, guaranteed maximum price (GMP), unit price, design-build, target prices, and construction management/cost reimbursable, is desirable.
