About the Role

The University of Toronto is seeking a highly skilled Employment Strategist to join our team. As an Employment Strategist, you will play a key role in providing employment strategy services to students and recent graduates. Your primary responsibility will be to develop program components that foster students' individual career development processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver instructional workshops to students on job search strategies, industry research, and networking techniques.
  • Provide one-on-one coaching and advising to students on resume and interview preparation, as well as job search strategies.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with employers and industry partners to stay informed about recruitment trends and job market demands.
  • Collaborate with instructors and administrators to develop tailored programming needs and services for students.
  • Conduct research on potential target markets to assist students in employment search planning.
  • Develop and implement program evaluation and assessment strategies to inform program planning activities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum three years of experience in a career-related, human resources, or employment recruitment setting.
  • Experience providing individual job search advising and coaching.
  • Experience in program and curriculum development and assessment, including learning outcome development.
  • Strong experiential background in student transition, particularly working with diverse communities and understanding student issues.
  • Intercultural competency awareness and knowledge of theories related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Good understanding of university students and recent graduates' career development needs.
  • Curriculum development and assessment skills for both in-person and virtual delivery.
  • Sound presentation, workshop facilitation, and public speaking skills.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, including time management and prioritization skills.
  • Strong service orientation and oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of employer recruitment practices and trends.
Assets
  • Career Development Practitioner certification.
  • Experience working with university students and/or recent graduates.
