Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our heavy equipment fleet.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct regular inspections and maintenance activities to prevent equipment downtime and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues with heavy equipment, including container truck lifts, reach stackers, front-end loaders, cranes, and other specialized equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance, repairs, and parts usage.
- Collaborate with other maintenance team members to prioritize and execute maintenance tasks efficiently.
- Provide training and guidance to junior technicians on equipment maintenance and repair procedures.
- Perform other related duties as required to support the maintenance team's objectives.
- High School diploma or equivalent required; Diploma of Professional Studies in heavy mechanic/diesel mechanic preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in heavy equipment repair and maintenance, with a focus on diesel mechanics.
- 3 years of experience in troubleshooting hydraulic and electronic systems.
- Heavy Duty Mechanic Certification (inter-provincial seal preferred).
- Valid Driver's License required.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude, coordination, and dexterity.
- Regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk or hear; and smell.
- Frequently required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and occasionally sit, reach with hands and arms, and climb or balance.
- Must be capable of heavy lifting and moving parts up to 50 lbs on a consistent basis.
- Must be able to work on your feet (stand or walk) for entire assigned work shift.
- Proven communication skills (written and verbal) in English and French.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees and supervisors.
- Ability to work efficiently and prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment.
