Occupational Therapist

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our Mental Health Services team. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing evidence-based and recovery-based practice to clients with mental health concerns.
You will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating client care to maximize their function in everyday life. This will involve collaborating with a Mental Health Care Team and community partners to provide holistic, client-centered care.
The successful candidate will have a Master's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy and be registered with the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia. Experience working with individuals with mental health and/or concurrent substance abuse disorders is an asset.
We are looking for a candidate who is flexible and able to utilize their professional skills in various service delivery models and settings. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as well as the ability to work independently and be accountable for all actions and decisions.
The successful candidate will be required to participate in initiating and facilitating mental health programs for health promotion and disease prevention, early identification and intervention, and assessments of community needs.
About You- Successful completion of a Master's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy
- Registration (or eligibility) with the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia
- Experience working with individuals with mental health and/or concurrent substance abuse disorders an asset
- Certificate in Psycho-Social Rehabilitation in Practice or willingness to obtain within one year of hire
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, CPR, First Aid, and WHMIS or willingness to obtain
- Demonstrated flexibility in utilizing professional skill sets in a variety of service delivery models and settings
- Ability to use a client-centered approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of and ability to operate word processing applications, electronic mail, spreadsheets, and the internet
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to work independently and be accountable for all actions and decisions
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
- Successful Applicants are required to provide a criminal record check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) to People Services before starting employment and assume any associated costs as a condition of employment
- Permanent Full-time (%) Position; 75.00 Hours Bi-weekly
$42.68 Hourly
