Job Summary

The Okanagan Indian Band is seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to fill the role of Director of Education and Cultural Development. This position will oversee the development and implementation of education programs, language and cultural initiatives, and community engagement activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for education and cultural development
  • Oversee the development and implementation of education programs, including curriculum development and teacher training
  • Lead the development and implementation of language and cultural initiatives, including language immersion programs and cultural events
  • Collaborate with community members, schools, and other stakeholders to develop and implement education and cultural programs
  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff and community members on education and cultural issues
  • Develop and manage budgets and resources for education and cultural programs
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and funding agreements
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community members, schools, and other stakeholders to promote education and cultural development
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Education Administration or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in education administration or related field
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and education systems
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic plans and budgets
  • Knowledge of education and cultural policies and regulations
  • Ability to work collaboratively with community members, schools, and other stakeholders
