About the Role
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Unit Clerk to join our team at PHSA. As a Unit Clerk, you will play a vital role in the operation of our Program Area or Unit, providing administrative support to our healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate patient appointments, diagnostic tests, and procedures, ensuring timely and efficient communication with patients, families, and healthcare staff.
- Process clinician orders, prepare requisitions, and maintain accurate records in our electronic health record system.
- Organize and coordinate patient information, ensuring seamless communication and data exchange between departments.
- Provide exceptional customer service, responding to patient inquiries, and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure a safe and efficient work environment, adhering to safety policies and standards.
Requirements
- Grade 12, medical terminology, and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk Program, plus one year's recent, related experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively, demonstrating empathy and understanding.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position, with a focus on patient care and safety.
- Ability to operate related equipment, including computer software applications.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada, as per TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
