Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cost Accountant to join our team at CB Canada. As a key member of our finance department, you will play a critical role in supporting the operational decision-making process of our management team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and manage Work-In-Progress (WIP) reports to ensure accurate financial data.
  • Calculate cost per unit and report operational results to inform business decisions.
  • Investigate and explain variances on a regular basis to identify areas for improvement.
  • Maintain and update costing database and records in our SAP system to ensure data accuracy.
  • Reconcile accounts at period end and post any adjustments as required to maintain financial integrity.
  • Analyze operational performance, including pricing, cost, and product performance, and report to the management team to inform strategic decisions.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual budgets to ensure financial planning and forecasting.
  • Assist with forecasting and decision-making processes to drive business growth.
  • Perform other analyses and produce ad-hoc reports as required to support business needs.
Requirements
  • Exceptional Excel skills, with advanced or superuser level proficiency, including the ability to create macros.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in costing and inventory management.
  • Accounting education and background, with a strong understanding of financial principles.
  • Manufacturing experience is preferred, but not required.
  • An investigative mindset with the ability to think critically and outside the box.
  • A resilient approach to problem-solving, with a focus on finding solutions.
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Genuine curiosity to learn about business operations and improve internal processes.
  • Thorough reporting skills, with the ability to present results to senior leadership.
  • Experience with SAP is an asset, as is knowledge of IFRS.
