Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cost Accountant to join our team at CB Canada. As a key member of our finance department, you will play a critical role in supporting the operational decision-making process of our management team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and manage Work-In-Progress (WIP) reports to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
  • Calculate cost per unit and report operational results to inform business decisions.
  • Investigate and explain variances on a regular basis to identify areas for improvement.
  • Maintain and update costing database and records in our SAP system to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Reconcile accounts at period end and post any adjustments as required to ensure financial accuracy.
  • Analyze operational performance, including pricing, cost, and product performance, and report to the management team to inform strategic decisions.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual budgets to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Assist with forecasting and decision-making processes to drive business growth.
  • Perform other analyses and produce ad-hoc reports as required to support business needs.
Requirements
  • Exceptional Excel skills, with advanced or superuser level proficiency, including the ability to create and manage macros.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in costing and inventory management, with a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Accounting education and background, with a focus on financial analysis and reporting.
  • Manufacturing experience is highly preferred, with a strong understanding of production processes and cost management.
  • An investigative mindset with the ability to think critically and outside the box to identify solutions.
  • Resilient approach to problem-solving, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders at all levels.
  • Genuine curiosity to learn about business operations and improve internal processes.
  • Thorough reporting skills, with the ability to present results to senior leadership in a clear and concise manner.
  • Experience with SAP is highly preferred, with a strong understanding of financial systems and processes.
  • IFRS knowledge is highly preferred, with a strong understanding of international financial reporting standards.
