Market Risk Manager

Manulife Bank of Canada is seeking a highly skilled Market Risk Manager to join our Treasury Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing market risks and ensuring that our bank's risk appetite is met.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement effective market risk management strategies to minimize potential losses and maximize returns.
- Collaborate with the Treasury Team to identify and assess market risks, and develop recommendations for mitigating these risks.
- Monitor and analyze market data to identify trends and potential risks, and provide insights to the Treasury leadership team.
- Develop and maintain models to calculate economic value of equity (EVE) and net interest income (NII) risks.
- Provide regular market risk reports to the Treasury leadership team and ALCO.
- Engage with the Financial Risk Oversight team to ensure that key policies, procedures, and modeling assumptions are subject to appropriate review and oversight.
- Undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or another quantitative field.
- Previous experience in managing market risks within the banking sector is required, along with a strong theoretical knowledge of, and prior experience implementing FTP systems.
- CFA and/or FRM designation would be considered a significant asset.
- Proficiency in data analytics using advanced Excel features, and programming/coding skills (e.g. SQL, Power Apps, Python) would be considered a strong asset.
- A great teammate with a proven ability to effectively manage internal relationships by collaborating within the department and across business units.
- Strong business acumen with a good understanding of the business environment in order to provide meaningful analysis and recommendations to the Treasury leadership team and ALCO.
