Job Title: HSSE Advisor II - Quality and Sustainability Specialist

At Fugro, we are committed to creating a safe and livable world. As an HSSE Advisor II - Quality and Sustainability Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the quality, health, safety, and security of our projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead by example and promote a culture of quality, health, and safety within the organization.
  • Review client QHSSE documentation and provide supporting information for project proposals.
  • Develop and implement project execution plans, emergency response plans, and quality plans.
  • Support the completion of worksite hazard identification registers.
  • Work with project teams, subcontractors, and vessel operators on QHSSE matters.
  • Coordinate medical and QHSSE assessments as required.
  • Coordinate with third-party vessel operators, security providers, vendors, and subcontractors to obtain necessary QHSSE documentation.
  • Conduct training needs assessments and provide training where needed.
  • Attend project planning and kick-off meetings to provide input on QHSSE elements.
  • Facilitate field teams with relevant safety information.
  • Monitor and promote compliance with project and business KPIs.
  • Coordinate incident investigations and elevate incident management accordingly.
  • Assist with the entry of incidents into the tracking database.
  • Perform periodic worksite QHSSE oversight visits and inspections.
  • Coordinate annual ISO internal and external audits.
  • Facilitate workplace OH&S Committee meetings and activities.

Requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada without restrictions.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college or university level education preferred.
  • At least 2 years in a role with QHSSE elements.
  • Experience in the offshore energy, marine services, and/or survey industry is highly desirable.
  • ISO 45001, 9001, and 14001 internal auditor certifications are a plus.
  • OH&S Committee, incident investigation, and first aid experience are preferred.
  • Certificates for travel offshore, including cold water survival and fit for work medical, are required for site visits.
  • Any other QHSSE certifications or qualifications relevant to the industry are an asset.
  • Certified Engineering Technician/Technologist (CET) or related designation is a plus.
  • Designation as Canadian Registered Safety Technician/Professional (CRST/P) is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on continual improvement of QHSSE matters.
  • Ability to work primarily in an office setting with occasional travel for site visits, inspections, incident investigations, client meetings, or other QHSSE-related functions.
  • Knowledge of provincial Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Act and Regulations, C-NLOPB and C-NSOPB Regulations and Guidelines, Transport Canada Marine OH&S Regulations, and other industry regulations/enforcement agencies' regulations and standards.
  • Understanding of offshore industry safety requirements and programs, including Behaviour Based Safety, Permit to Work, Management of Change, Right to Refuse, and Stop Work Authority.
  • Experience working in the marine and energy sector and around ports and vessels.
