Job Summary:

The Animal Care Attendant is a key member of our team at West Edmonton Mall, responsible for ensuring the health and well-being of our marine life animals. This role requires a passion for animal care and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist our Marine Life staff with animal presentations, cleaning and maintenance of exhibits, and husbandry tasks.
  • Apply knowledge of natural history, animal husbandry, and enrichment practices to ensure the health and well-being of our animals.
  • Provide exceptional customer service during shows and assist with photo sessions.
  • Assist with animal care, nutrition, and diets, as well as water quality and animal training.
  • Maintain, clean, and perform general upkeep of live exhibits, cages, tanks, and displays.
  • Perform opening and closing duties, including supervising touch pools and answering guest questions.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and overall appearance of all Marine Life facilities.

Requirements:

  • Possess a keen interest in aquatic life and a passion for animals.
  • Experience working with reptiles, fish, and other amphibians is an asset.
  • Degree or relevant biological field or previous experience in an animal-related field is an asset.
  • Experience with public speaking and performing is an asset.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs and possess a Class 5 driver's license.

Working Conditions:

  • This is a full-time position requiring flexible availability, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to pass a basic security clearance.
