About the Role

The YMCA of Northern Alberta is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Aquatics Program Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our aquatics team, you will be responsible for creating a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals while providing effective supervision and risk management to the overall delivery of all aquatics programs and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement high-quality aquatics programs that meet the needs of our diverse membership.
  • Provide excellent customer service and ensure a positive experience for all participants.
  • Supervise and manage the aquatics area, ensuring a safe and clean environment for all users.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with volunteers, members, program participants, and colleagues at all levels of the organization.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices in aquatics programming and safety.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless delivery of programs and services.
  • Perform administrative tasks, such as record-keeping and reporting, to ensure accurate and timely information.
Requirements
  • Minimum 16 years of age (under supervision of 18+ year old lifeguard).
  • Lifeguard Certifications: Intermediate First Aid, CPR-C & AED, Lifesaving National Lifeguard (NL).
  • Instructor Certifications: Intermediate First Aid, CPR-C & AED, Lifesaving Swim Instructor (SI) or YMCA Swim Instructor (YSI).
  • Ability to obtain Oxygen Administration (O2) within 6 months of hire date.
  • Must obtain Lifesaving Swim Instructor (SI), First Aid Instructor (FAI) or YMCA Swim Instructor (YSI) certification within the first year of hire date.
  • Aquatics Emergency Care (AEC) and National Coaching certification (NCCP) are an asset.
  • Able to obtain a Police Information Check with Vulnerable sector check.
  • Must obtain employer-specific WHMIS and child abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
  • Ability to maintain certification-level currency without expiry, as well as physical and mental readiness.
