Course Information: EDCS 1680 - Field Work
The School of Social Work and Human Service at Thompson Rivers University is seeking a qualified candidate to provide seminar instruction and faculty liaison for Education and Community Support students completing EDCS 1680. The successful candidate will teach a weekly 2-hour seminar and conduct orientations for and evaluations of students completing their practicums in school or community support settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach a weekly 2-hour seminar
- Conduct orientations for and evaluations of students completing their practicums
- Liaise with field instructors
- Facilitate applied learning outcomes from other program courses
- Individual problem solving
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Social Work, Education or Child & Youth required
- Familiarity with the British Columbia Public Education System and/or Inclusion BC
- Demonstrated commitment to school and community inclusion
- Successful teaching experience in post-secondary institutions is desirable
- A minimum of five years of related practice experience, and educational specialization for content specific courses
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated experience in integrating Indigenous knowledge and teaching methods
- Proven skills in building student capacity for intercultural understanding, empathy, and mutual respect
- Teaching excellence, including developing culturally appropriate curricula
