This exciting 3-month locum position in general psychiatry provides an opportunity to work in two dynamic programs at the Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) and the Interior Health-funded mental health clinic in Kamloops. As a Senior Psychiatrist, you will provide comprehensive care to individuals and families, working closely with Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Social Workers, Nurses, Physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
Practice DetailsThe RIH has a 26-bed acute psychiatric unit providing services to individuals from throughout the Interior Health West region. The Community MHSU Clinic offers clinical services to people living in Kamloops and surrounding areas, including intake services and various clinic programs such as Substance Use, Early Psychosis, and Seniors Mental Health. This position is divided between the two sites, with 80% of time spent at RIH and 20% at the Community MHSU Clinic.
Qualifications- Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC)
- Doctorate in Medicine
- Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) License
Candidates must have mandatory coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association. They should also be comfortable teaching medical students and family practice residents and participating in quality improvement and program development activities. Teaching is an option given that the candidate already has an appointment through UBC Department of Psychiatry.
Call ScheduleHours of work: Full Time On call requirements: 1:10
CompensationThe estimated gross income for this position is $250,000 per annum based on Fee for Service & Sessions. This is a competitive salary for a psychiatrist in British Columbia. Candidates interested in less than a full-time locum position should still apply.
