Accounting & Assurance Manager Role

MNP is a leading national accounting, tax and business advisory firm in Canada. We are seeking an experienced Assurance Manager to join our team.

About the Role

This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary range of $95,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience. As an Assurance Manager, you will lead client-facing engagement teams to complete audits, compliance tax engagements, budgeting, internal controls and financial/accounting transactions.

You will deliver industry and technical expertise in audit and assurance through client interactions, reports, technical work, management presentations and high-quality deliverables. Your portfolio will consist of clients across various industries, and you will be responsible for understanding their business, key risks and ways to deliver added value.

In this role, you will also manage engagement planning and scheduling as well as project financials (i.e., budgets, WIPS, timely billing, collection, variance recognition). Quality control and applying specialized knowledge to anticipate, identify and address issues relevant to the client's business, financial entries and reports are essential duties.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead client-facing engagement teams to complete audits, compliance tax engagements, budgeting, internal controls and financial/accounting transactions.
  2. Deliver industry and technical expertise in audit and assurance through client interactions, reports, technical work, management presentations and high-quality deliverables.
  3. Manage a portfolio of clients while understanding their business, key risks and ways to deliver added value; ensure clients' needs are met and that relationships and accounts grow and develop.
  4. Accountable for engagement planning and scheduling as well as project financials (i.e., budgets, WIPS, timely billing, collection, variance recognition).
  5. Maintain quality control and apply specialized knowledge to anticipate, identify and address issues relevant to the client's business, financial entries and reports.
  6. Network in the local business community, consider business development opportunities and contribute to the preparation and delivery of competitive proposals to meet client needs.
  7. Mentor, motivate and coach team members towards professional and personal development by setting clear expectations, providing feedback and conducting performance reviews.
Requirements
  1. 6 years of relevant accounting experience.
  2. Working towards a CPA designation is considered an asset.
  3. Strong understanding of business, accounting, management and practice development principles.
  4. Proven people management, relationship building and leadership skills.
  5. Experience working with accounting and tax software.
