About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Manager, Taxation to join our team at Intact Financial Corporation. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for overseeing the tax accounting and reporting cycle, including provisioning and reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the tax accounting and reporting cycle, including provisioning and reporting.
  • Liaise with other finance teams in the organization.
  • Participate in managing the quarterly reviews and annual audit by the external auditor.
  • Prepare and review corporate tax returns, forms, and elections for the group.
  • Manage and oversee responses for tax authority audit queries.
  • Manage due diligence analysis on strategic investment for Corporate Development and Intact Ventures.
  • Determine accounting impact of closed transactions and provide memorandums and calculations to the compliance and reporting team to ensure transactions are recorded correctly and oversee the integration of the acquired entity.
  • Advise accounting and other internal stakeholders on the tax impact of all internal reorganization projects and ensure all compliance requirements are met.
  • Provide support, advice, and training to business units regarding the application of tax laws applicable to federal and provincial jurisdictions.
  • Monitor tax policies and interpret tax laws and regulations.
  • Draft and revise analytical reports and opinions on tax matters for presentation to senior management.
  • Follow up on analysis of taxation risks and supervise the implementation of action plans with the business units.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in taxation or advanced tax course(s) from CPA or any combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum 4 to 5 years experience in corporate taxes.
  • Experience with dealing with large public corporations, with insurance and/or FI experience a strong asset.
  • In-Depth knowledge of applicable tax laws and regulations in federal and provincial jurisdictions.
  • Experience in managing a team and knowledge of Taxprep (tax compliance software).
  • For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
