Job Summary:

The York Region District School Board is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Speech Language Pathologist to join our team. As a key member of our educational team, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing assessment and intervention services to students with communication disorders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of students' communication skills and develop individualized intervention plans to address their needs.
  • Provide direct and indirect services to students, including individual and group therapy sessions, as well as consultation with teachers and other educational staff.
  • Supervise and support Speech Language Pathology Assistants and other support staff to ensure high-quality services are provided to students.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other professionals to develop and implement strategies to support students with communication disorders.
  • Develop and deliver professional learning opportunities for staff to enhance their knowledge and skills in supporting students with communication disorders.
  • Stay current with best practices and research in the field of speech-language pathology and apply this knowledge to inform practice.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related field.
  • Current certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the province of Ontario.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working as a Speech-Language Pathologist in an educational setting.
  • Experience working with students with complex communication needs and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) is an asset.
