Job Summary:
The York Region District School Board is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Speech Language Pathologist to join our team. As a key member of our educational community, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality speech and language services to students with a range of communication needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct formal and informal assessments and screenings to identify students' communication needs and develop targeted intervention plans.
- Provide universal and targeted speech and language strategies to support students' communication development.
- Supervise and mentor Speech Language Pathology Assistants to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Develop and deliver professional learning opportunities to staff to enhance their knowledge and skills in supporting students with communication needs.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other professionals to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and provide support to students with complex communication needs.
- Stay current with best practices in speech and language therapy and apply this knowledge to inform practice.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related field.
- Current certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the province of Ontario.
- Minimum 3 years of experience working as a Speech-Language Pathologist in an educational setting.
- Experience working with students with complex communication needs and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems.
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with teachers, administrators, and other professionals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with students, parents, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
