Job Title: Douglas College International Student Program Assistant

Estimated Salary: $18.95/hour

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as an International Student Program Assistant. The successful candidate will provide support to prospective, new international students and exchange students transition to life within Canada, BC, and the Douglas College community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in planning and implementation of events and activities for international students
  • Provide support to supervisors to schedule and facilitate meetings, workshops, and/or social opportunities
  • Help students develop social connections with other Douglas students
  • Initiate and maintain contact with new students
  • Answer new students questions about essential campus services and supporting a peer-to-peer network
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A positive, outgoing attitude
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Keen interest in working in an international setting
  • Keen interest in facilitating intercultural learning and discovery
  • Experience with social norms and values of more than one culture is an asset
  • To be a self-starter with the ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Experience in administrative work
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment
Eligibility Requirements
  1. Domestic students must meet ONE of the following criteria:
  2. Enrolled in, and maintain, a minimum of one (3 credit) course at Douglas College throughout the work term
  3. International students must meet ONE of the following criteria:
  4. Enrolled in full-time studies at Douglas College, throughout the academic year
