Lead Counsel for Compliance and Risk Management

About the Role:
Closenearme is seeking an experienced legal counsel to join its in-house legal team and support the Architecture and Urbanism division. As a Senior Compliance Counsel Lead, you will play a critical role in providing comprehensive legal services, managing complex projects, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal support for complex projects across public and private markets
- Collaborate with disputes counsel and risk management team
- Serve as a trusted legal advisor to the Architecture and Urbanism Legal Director
- Ensure compliance with Closenearme policies and laws
- Monitor legal and contracting trends in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry
- Develop protocols for identifying and managing project risks
- Support development of policies and processes
- Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, and Privacy department
- Develop role-related training programs
- Perform other duties requiring legal advice as needed
Requirements:
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- Global and international mindset
- Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
- Aptitude for identifying and managing risk
- Knowledge of Canadian contracting laws preferred
